Brian Scott

Mr. Scott has been with Patriot Defense Group for eight years. Prior to joining PDG, Mr. Scott served over ten years in the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency as an Operations Officer (C/O) specializing in Middle East and Counterterrorism issues. Mr. Scott has served in six Middle East stations and served in two Chief of Station assignments during that time. Mr. Scott joined the CIA after serving two years in the White House as a Special Assistant for Public Liaison on the staff of former President William J. Clinton where he routinely managed outreach and policy events for the President, Vice-President, First Lady, and other senior cabinet members. Mr. Scott went to the White House from the U.S. Army where he had progressed from the rank of private to captain. Assignment highlights included 10th Mountain Division Long Range Surveillance Detachment, a Defense Intelligence Agency assignment to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and as 82nd Airborne Division Civil-Military Affairs Chief during a Multinational Forces and Observers peacekeeping mission in Sinai, Egypt.

Christopher Grim

Chief Financial Officer

Christopher J. Grim serves as Chief Financial Officer of Patriot Defense Group. Mr. Grim has over twenty years of experience in public accounting, private accounting, and financial management. Prior to joining Patriot Defense Group, Mr. Grim held senior positions in a number of highly regarded accounting firms, where he was chiefly responsible for audit and financial review functions. He has led the development and enhancement of internal controls, financial performance measurement and evaluation systems, cost control, and workflow processes in the organizations he has served. Mr. Grim has also assisted companies in securing a range of financing options including a successful equity capital raise for a growing firm. Mr. Grim has served clients in a variety of industries including construction and real estate, defense, manufacturing, distribution, and technology. Mr. Grim possesses an MBA from Rollins College in Florida and a B.S. in Economics from the University of Delaware.

David Vacala

Managing Director

David V. Vacala has been with Patriot Defense Group since January 2013. He served with the Federal Government for 30 years; 26 of which were with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as an Operations Officer and Senior Operations Manager. Born and raised in Chicago, Mr. Vacala graduated from the University of Chicago with a Bachelor’s degree in Russian Civilization. After graduating from Chicago, Mr. Vacala joined the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) as an intelligence analyst. In 1987, Mr. Vacala joined the CIA as Career Trainee with the Directorate of Operations (now known as the National Clandestine Service – NCS). During his career with the NCS, Mr. Vacala’s overseas assignments included tours of duty in Egypt, Sri Lanka, Germany, India, Nepal, and Iraq.  Mr. Vacala served as Chief of Base in a priority South Asian country as well as Chief of Station in another South Asian country. Mr. Vacala served two tours as a NCS Field Tradecraft Instructor at the CIA’s Special Training Center (STC).  Mr. Vacala retired from the CIA in December 2012. In June 2013, Mr. Vacala was awarded the Career Intelligence Medal by the CIA in recognition for exceptional achievements in support of CIA intelligence and operational missions.

Christopher Berry

Director of Training Operations

Mr. Christopher Berry is the Director of Operations for Patriot Defense Group. Mr. Berry draws on over twenty years of experience in the law enforcement community.  Mr. Berry graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology in 1990.  He began his career with the Orlando Police Department and in 2001, became a member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Joint Terrorism Task Force where he remained until his retirement.  In 2007, Mr. Berry founded Special Interest Group, LLC as a training and consulting company providing services to various commercial and government entities. In 2013, Mr. Berry joined the Patriot Defense Group and assumed management of its training, rehearsal, and exercise support operations.

Michael Hamby

Director of Business Development

Mr. Hamby is a former entrepreneur and accomplished social skills instructor.  Before joining Patriot Defense Group, Mr. Hamby assisted international investors in completing M&A and private placement transactions in Asia. He has worked with clients in industries including manufacturing, information technology, basic materials, and financial services.  Mr. Hamby has also advised venture capital and technology companies on their overseas strategies, including evaluating investment opportunities in emerging markets, with a focus on East Asia and Latin America.  Mr. Hamby’s past clients include IBM, Cerberus Capital, Heinz, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and SRI International, in addition to a wide range of PE funds, hedge funds, and mutual funds.  Mr. Hamby holds a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
